sweet spring

it's felt like spring for months here in florida, but ever since the spring equinox has made things official, i've been having cravings for tiny floral prints, super sheer fabric and romantic vintage dresses like crazy! when i saw this super sweet, dreamy little thing on the cosmic collage vintage, i felt instantly attached and had to get it. the owner of the shop, alice, is someone that i've had the chance to chat with, and we've done a little bonding over our shared vintage obsession. she's a complete doll who has curated a super darling collection of vintage, bohemian treasures within her store. go take a gander here!

count your blessings

one of the weirdest/sassiest thrift store shirts ever. i love everything about it: the gleaming golden cross, the doves fluttering, the slightly faded color. purrfect. also, sometimes taco bus has bitchin' accessories, like these glasses, mixed into those dollar goody bags filled with plastic cars and candy necklaces that they sell in the back. they were definitely made to fit a small child's head, but i strectched them to small adult head size.

shut eye

if you read my blog, you probably know about my penchant for wearing old nightgowns as evening gowns. well, i also have a massive collection of vintage nighties that i've deemed appropriate for slumbering and lounging around the house in. sleep is much more dreamy when you're wearing something beautiful and billowy to make a nice little cocoon around you. this nightie is a little more special than most of my others, since it was a hand me down from my granny. makes for sweet dreams.

frankenfoot

sometimes you just need a pair of goth boots to celebrate the start of spring. i decided to break mine in last night with a little romp about town, starting with a trip to 3 coins diner for breakfastdinner. there must have been some sort of major bingo tournament on nebraska ave earlier in the evening, cause it was packed to the BRIM with senior citizens. i found myself the focus of about 50 sets of elderly eyeballs during my exit from the diner, and you should have seen the looks on their faces.... some confused, some disapproving, some smiling and whispering amongst themselves like they thought the shoes were bizarre but liked them. made me kind of happy and super giggly/weird to be able to entertain everyone with my crazy, new fangled devil boots.

¡viva la revoluciĆ³n!

these.... pants. madly. madly. madly.... in love. i was immediately taken with them, and quickly became even more giddy when i discovered that they fasten with a little belt on each side of the waist, which gives them a really authentic look and feel. i'm pretty sure i've never even been inside of a banana republic, so i had no idea what the company's history was until i saw the old "banana republic safari and travel clothing co." tag inside of these and decided to do some research. apparently, before it was bought by gap in 1983, it was an eccentric but chic 2 store safari and travel themed clothing company. kind of badass. i'm gonna wear these things like 27 times a week, that's all.

ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking.

another recent thrift find! one of my favorites, too. i know i say that every time i bring home something great, but i always mean it. they're all my favorites, ok?!?!! anyway, this one's really special, cause finding a vintage jumpsuit that actually fits is super rare. i feel very 'lady pilot' in this, and i like it. ready for takeoff!

sailing through time

if there's one thing you need to know about me, it's that i love a good peplum. actually, i realized immediately after typing that sentence that the fact that i love a good peplum is a pretty inconsequential fact regarding my taste in dress shapes. same difference. anyway, peplum: in my opinion, there a few things more flattering and feminine. i got pretty excited when i saw this dress at the thrift store. it's silk, it's vintage and it's nearly flawless. i had all 10 fingers and toes crossed that it would fit me as i was heading to the dressing room and, whaddaya know, like a glove!
