four/twenty

4/20: a day for consuming excessive amounts of the devil's lettuce. picking out a holiday get-up can be a little tricky in the midst of it all. luckily i picked up this vintage grateful dead t on my recent trip to austin, so it was a no brainer. obligatory stoner t-shirt, check! i never realized how much i wanted to wear honeycomb print until i met up with this thing. now i feel complete and all that jazz. moving on to the bottom portion of this outfit.. thrift find of the CENTURY. this past fall i spent an unhealthy amount of time perusing the internet in search of a pair of semi affordable leather pants. my search proved to be fruitless, and my aversion to pleather kept me from going the cheaper faux route. one happy day, i stumbled across these babies. the fit was not what i initially had in mind, (i was thinking more skinny leather pant) but after trying them on i realized that they are the stuff that dreams are made of, and that the saggy, drop crotchy fit makes them more interesting and wonderful than a tight pair. $6.00 later, my leather pants and i sailed off into the sunset (and we lived happily ever after). the end.

i may or may not have gone a little bonkers for bike shorts last weekend, and bought them in a million various colors and prints. but, come on.. they're the perfect bottom for almost every occasion in the world: sleeping, going to the gym, biking to the grocery store.... umm.. layering underneath every big shirt ever. you get the point. while i was cleaning out the bike shorts rack, my mom was perusing the purses, and she found this leather bag THAT'S SHAPED LIKE A TINY MOTORCYCLE JACKET. thanks, mama!!

oshkosh b'gosh!

ok, these overalls aren't really oshkosh b'gosh. they're vintage bill blass, which is way more sartorially awesome, but not as fun to say or use as a blog title. in any case, they're outta the closet and ready to be worn all spring/summer. it was a hard winter, passing up this big chunk of denim greatness every time i flipped through the closet. now that's all through, so expect to see these babies worn with anything and everything. dressed up, dressed down, prancing all around town, etc.

chromatic

could this dress be thrift gem of the week/month/season?!?! i think so. i do, i do, i do. i just... get ecstatic every time i look at it. it reminds me of zebra stripe gum and carnivals... and of la boca in buenos aires, all at the same time. as i was checking out at the thrift store, the cashier commented that the dress might be slightly large on "a little thing" like me, and then she suggested that i could "just belt it" in order for it to fit more perfectly. what, lady?? you want me to belt it and destroy the perfectly boxy shape that this thing has going for it? i don't want to look like an hourglass, i want to look like a magnificently colored little box. suggestion rejected. in other news: this bag. i thrifted it a few weeks ago and have been waiting for the right time to break it out. the fabric is obviously right up my alley, but what really makes it shine is it's super awkward shape. what the heck is that weird little protruding corner doing? i love it so much.

junius

i went on a mini vacation to austin, and did so much eating, drinking, and fun having that i didn't manage to take even a single photo of what i was wearing the whole time.. but i'm back in florida and back in the style diary groove. austin's one of my absolute favorite cities, and i always leave in a super flower child/psychadelic/groovy colors and cacti mood. here i am balancing things out with some frankenstein boots, once again.
