hot, hot, hot heat

words aren't sufficient for explaining the supremely wet, hotness of august in florida. an absolute sauna!! every square inch of skin that is touched by clothing begins screaming for air within two seconds of stepping outside. since nudity isn't an option, i wore the most lightweight thing in my closet for a saturday spent running around, thrifting and eating cuban food. couldn't resist wearing my new harrison wedges that arrived in the mail last week, though. heat stroke is beauty?

a few shots snapped last night before heading to the bricks for rye and ginger beers, along with excessively competitive games of connect 4. these pants may be my new favorite piece of clothing. the fit has such an insouciant, masculine-ish feel, but the blush color softens things just enough..

eternal summer

as hard as i've been dreaming of autumn... of boots, of pants and LAYERING (!)... florida is eons away from making my dreams come true. a few nights ago, in a move that displayed my seasonal denial, i wore jeans out to dinner in ybor. the amount of sweating and lightheadedness that accompanied my wardrobe choice forced me to realize that i'd better not attempt any real leg coverage for at least another month. deep sigh. this is me resigning myself to the temperature while frolicking in the park at night!

just finished flipping through the september 2011 harper's bazaar (super titillating, as i'm currently longing for fall). i have to say that as visually stimulating as modern fashion campaigns are, for some reason i was hit with a bit of nostalgia today. next thing you know i'm googling at lightning fast speed in search of images from the "your dior" ads, shot by chris von wangenheim in the late 70's. this has to be one of my favorite campaigns of all time. remember, no photoshop back in this day and age! not to mention, when's the last time you saw someone firing a gun in a sunglasses ad?
