63 orange street
this past sunday my beau and i left tampa to spend 3 days in st. augustine at the most adorable bed and breakfast. the old house's amenities included gobs of beautiful victorian furniture, a talking bird named patti and wallpaper galore. more photos from the old city to come!

inky moods
halloween time is my favorite. pumpkin beers, pumpkin coffee, pumpkin curry, pumpkin carving, scary movie marathons, evil witches, dog costumes, people costumes, decking the house out in skeletons and spiderwebs...! all of it kind of just makes me want to squeal. i develop a bit of an obsession over surrounding myself with spookiness (from cutesy spookery to the truly bone chilling) sometime around late september each year. here are just a few of the creepy thangs that have been filling my head and my home:
evelyn mchale. 'the most beautiful suicide'. |
lillian wells. |
costumed babes of the 1940's. |
ruth ann moorehouse, squeaky fromme and a third girl. |
little witches. |

lucy
i watched a pretty decent made for tv movie about lucille ball and desi arnaz the other night. some of the acting (ahem, who cast the guy who played clark gable???) was a tad wonky, but the wardrobe people did a bang up job! i most loved the outfits that lucy wore around the house... wide leg trousers, always a scarf around the hair. what a forever babe...

laced with romance
i got this gorgeous little dress at laced with romance vintage while visiting a friend in austin a couple of years ago. i was so excited to wear it when i got back to florida... i grabbed it from my suitcase, pulled it on and promptly ripped a panel of lace from it! consequently (and rather shamefully), it's been hanging in my closet in all it loveliness for a very long time, never having been worn, and just waiting for me to take it to a seamstress for a little repair. cut to a couple of months ago - i got a brand new singer and took up sewing! after learning all of the basics and sewing a couple of little blouses and things, i realized, after stumbling over this baby while in search of another dress, that i could fix its little tear in a matter of minutes all by myself! a few peachy little stitches later i was able to finally take this sweet thing out for a long deserved spin.
